Pre-Primary

Children start in the Nursery at the age of two and a half, and move on first, second and third Pre-primary years. Classes are small and there is a truly caring and friendly atmosphere with individual attention being given to each child, enabling them to grow in confidence and to have the best start possible to their academic life. We aim to achieve high standards in a purposeful yet calm and comfortable department.

Our Pre-primary department gives younger children their all-important introduction to the learning environment from the age of two years and a half. We provide a very effective introduction to those concepts that are central to successful learning, without subjecting the children to any feeling of pressure; learning is presented to these young children in an enjoyable, easily assimilated way.

Our Pre-Primary Class Rooms consist of

  • A variety of motivating and educational material
  • Multi-hour, uninterrupted work time, which supports the young child’s development of concentration and attention span.
  • Individualized and small group lessons
  • Peer-to-peer learning
  • Lessons in cooperation and working together

Primary School

Doon’s primary school programme was created with the vision of enabling young learners to be educated in unique, creative and contemporary ways, making it the best primary school in Gwalior. Students at Doon Public primary school are encouraged to adopt a scientific attitude and ask questions, build their imagination and express themselves freely and clearly. Our goal is to teach the young minds in our school not what to think, but how to think.

All our young learners are given well-designed opportunities and experiences that will help develop and fine tune their literacy, numeracy, inter-personal skills and creativity. The primary programme also empowers young minds to build their personalities through self-discipline and self-confidence.

The curriculum is an umbrella term which extends over six inquiry modules wherein students’ participation in their own learning advances in a progressive manner. In this process, the students learn to master subject specific skills such as receptive (listening and reading) and productive (speaking and writing) skills in languages in a way that they can comprehend, draw inferences from, relate to texts, read critically, use language creatively and imaginatively in day to day transactions and performances.

Middle School

In the Middle School years, Doon’s rigorous curriculum focuses on helping students to become increasingly independent learners and preparing them to succeed in high school and beyond.

In Grades 6–8, students deepen their knowledge and skills in four core subjects: English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Teachers at Doon help their students:

  • Develop independent learning strategies and study skills.
  • Deepen their reading comprehension and writing skills.
  • Learn advanced math concepts in preparation for higher level math courses.
  • Begin exploring physical, life, and earth sciences through scientific inquiry and engineering design.
  • Explore the geography, culture, and politics of the world around them.

How are the students kept engaged:

Our framework for learning helps parents keep middle schoolers interested and engaged with:

  1. Projects that apply learning to the real world and are tailored to their interests.
  2. Activities that encourage them to think for themselves as they apply what they learn in meaningful ways.
  3. Assessments where they use their learning to demonstrate mastery of each concept.
  4. Opportunities to showcase what they’ve learned in ways that allow them to experience the utility of learning.

High School:

In the Middle School years, Doon’s rigorous curriculum focuses on helping students to become increasingly independent learners and preparing them to succeed in high school and beyond. The High School program encompasses grades 9-12 and focuses on inclusion, social skills, and the student’s transition to vocational development which is tailored to each student in its speed and direction. We assist students at middle and senior high schools to excel in math and science and become competitively eligible for academically rigorous colleges and universities.
